Travelogue Oman 2019
Arrival and Muscat

The flight to Oman was our first little adventure, because due to a strike by Lufthansa, it was not sure if we would be able to leave Munich.

Departure notification in Terminal 2 of Munich Airport on November 7th, 2019. Almost all flights are canceled, but our flight is not.

We booked with Lufthansa, but the flight is operated by Oman Air. Hurrah!

To be honest, we don’t think you have to spend a lot of time in Muscat. The city is of course much more worth seeing than various capitals in Latin America. You don’t need to be afraid of crime here either. There are shops, restaurants and also some sights … but what was the name of the travel guide? OFF-ROAD! That is why it is really worth coming to Oman. Nevertheless, here are a few pictures from the city.

Muscat is significantly shaped by its location by the sea. There is a wonderful and almost endless sandy beach. A lot of public life takes place here.

There are cafes here – as almost everywhere with fresh, delicious juices.

It is also very typical to picnic in large groups on huge carpets. It is also typical that such meetings almost exclusively take place separately by gender.

Also at sunset there are a lot of people walking on the beach.

Unless you’re really alone on an Omani beach, you shouldn’t show too much bare skin, not even as a man. Overall, however, that is very situation-dependent. In the capital, people are used to scarcly clad female tourists, but that is not in keeping with etiquette.

The Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque is perhaps the major tourist highlight of the city. There may be others, but we didn’t see them and preferred to spend our time in the rest of the country.
