Beach day at Varadero. Farewell to Havana with local coffee and local concert at Patio de La Egrem. Return via Toronto with a stroll through China Town.
Travelogue Cuba 2012 Varadero and Farewell to Havana
We spend two nights and one day in Varadero. This is perhaps, at least for tourists, the number one beach in Cuba. But it doesn’t have much to do with the country of Cuba. There are also only a few Cubans to be found here.A farewell from Gabi in the sand of the island, for us a quiet end.
And one last (second) sunset in this travelogue.
Back in Havana we now know the country so well that we know that you can either drink coffee in an expensive tourist café or for a fraction of the price in one of those coffee bars for locals. On our last evening we visit, as the only tourists, El Patio de La Egrem. Egrem is the national recording studio of Cuba and in the patio there are regularly concerts of the artists in a very familiar environment. We feel like we’re in the Buena Vista Social Club. A wonderful ending.
We fly back via Toronto, treat ourselves to a little stroll through Chinatown to shorten the stopover and finally we arrive happily back in Munich.
